I also get a lot of inspiration from London. There’s a casual edginess to the creativity here. Designers create things without thinking too hard about it and it gives work a vibrancy. London is also hugely multi cultural and tolerant. It’s a melting pot of religions and ethnicities. There’s something for everyone here.
WHAT IS YOUR APPROACH TO DESIGN?
MM: I do my best work when it is unplanned and organic. I prefer not to over think-things and then it flows from there.
WHAT IS YOUR APPROACH TO SHOPPING?
MM: I am an eclectic and emotional shopper. I am also a big ‘feel appeal’ person. All the fabrics I wear have to be soft and comfortable. I love Balenciaga. I love collect Boudicca. I buy a lot of Clements Ribeiro and I have lots of vintage Yves Saint Laurent. All of them have different looks but the thing they have in common is understated attention to detail. They are intelligent clothes.
