Scottish sculptor Kenneth Topp launched Bronzino is 2005. Bronzino’s creations are inspired by historic examples of metalwork from across Europe and beyond, ranging from the metal pots Topp knew from his childhood to the three-meter wide cauldrons in Istanbul’s Topkapi Palace Kitchens.
What is luxury?
The handmade. The fine surface detail of the handmade object allows it to stand out from the mass produced. Bronzino copper and zinc containers are made and finished entirely by hand. Each has its own personality.
What are the three greatest luxuries you allow yourself?
My art studio is in the center of London and expensive to maintain.
However at 5 minutes from my apartment, I can go there anytime and make whatever I want.
Books – I can’t stop myself buying them. I’m interested in a wide range of subjects with art and culture at the core. The latest are “Bronzino: Renaissance Painter as Poet” and also Umberto Eco – “The Infinity Of Lists”.
My grandfather’s kilt & sporrans. My mother handed these on to me when I was 19. The kilt is Edwardian - the green is now faded to a soft peat color, its silk lining frayed. It’s fragile and rarely comes out of the closet - wearing it is a real luxury.
