My dear friend, the designer Bea Valdes, whom we’ve being supporting since she started, was awarded with The Outstanding Young Men/Women Award (TOYM) for 2010 in the Philippines. The TOYM Award is acknowledged as the most prestigious form of recognition for young men and women who continue to demonstrate professional excellence and service to humanity in their respective fields. I am so proud of her as she has so much love for her business and her artisans I always spend one of my favorite dinners in Paris with her and her family. I cannot wait to go to Manila and visit her.
I spent five days in Tokyo with Deepak Chopra, his family and Masami Saionji, Chairman of the Goi Peace Foundation, and her family. The Goi Peace Foundation is dedicated to promoting world peace, transcending all boundaries of race, religion, or politics, with a belief that peace begins in the mind of each individual. We visited the Fuji Sanctuary, an amazing park with clear views of Mt Fuji surrounded by flags from every country, where we prayed for world peace and handwrote messages of peace for different countries. Each message said: “May peace be in (Name of Country), May peace prevail on Earth. I wrote this type of message for each of the countries I live in, while at the same time thinking of my family and friends who live in each of those places, feeling connected to all the great energy that comes from doing such an exercise in perfect handwriting. Within minutes I was able to go beyond people I know and care about to people I do not know, and it was magical to see how in that place you come to think of the world as one.
