
The Italian jewelry designer Paola Napoli resides in London, where she creates her sculptural pieces fusing precious metals, mother of pearl, exotics woods and stones.
Born and raised in Rome, Paola has been deeply influenced by the beautiful craftsmanship for which Italy in known. She finds inspiration in many forms and places, and more often in the every day: an exhibition, a photo, a pattern, a landscape, a tree. Even the hinge of a door can spark an idea: “Once I was in Berlin, in a studio of an architect, when I saw a hinge that I had never seen before and stared at it in wonder
as it resolved a technical problem that I was struggling with for a long time”, Paola recalls. For these moments, she is prepared with her trusty Moleskin notebook, which she never leaves home without, into which she throws down a quick sketch.
The Kinetic collection is the perfect illustration of how Paola absorbs what she sees and translates that into her designs. Says Paola: “Oddly enough, this design was inspired by a Christmas decoration: a garland of little red berries! One could hardly notice anything but the berries, the structure was almost invisible but the berries were joyful
