Pioneering eco-warrior Erwan le Louër aims for JEM to become the world leader in ethical jewelry. When this entrepreneur with a passion for the environment discovered the first pilot programme for the artisan extraction of ethical gold in Colombia, he was inspired to create JEM, which stands for ‘Jewellery Ethically Minded’. It took three years and an unflinching belief that if products are sustainable it increases their beauty and individuality, and now JEM is going from strength to strength.
Erwan had to find the right people to work with, to ensure the metals used could be traced and verified as ethically produced, and to develop an ethical charter integrating sustainable development into every stage of the manufacturing process. JEM’s motto is “when making jewelry is as beautiful as offering it”, and each piece of jewelry is the result of a rigorously ethical production process that reflects Erwan’s commitment to sustainability.
